Trauma Informed Workplaces

This one-day-course is designed to raise awareness of trauma and how it affects people, teams and organisations. Teams and departments are populated with colleagues who have experienced trauma. People who experience trauma as children end up in workplaces as adults and walk into work wounded but with dignity. 34% of any workforce will not had had an Adverse Childhood Experience which leaves 64% who have and of those who have 12% will have experienced 4 or more. Evidence from the Scottish government has shown that people with 4 or more ACE’s are

  • 3 times increased risk of heart disease, respiratory disease and type 2 diabetes
  • 4 times more likely to be a high-risk drinker
  • 5 times more likely to have low mental wellbeing

To have effective teams, we need to understand that trauma is everybody’s business. The latest figures from the Health and Safety Executive show 50% of sick days taken are for stress, anxiety and depression.
